"3121", "Planet Earth" and "Lotusflow3r" are three albums released by Prince in the mid-to-late 2000s. A similar group of musicians was used to record the three albums so they have been grouped together. 3121 features a mainstream pop sound, whilst Lotusflow3r is a psychedelic rock album. Planet Earth features a mixture of rock and pop styles.

Prince recorded eight songs with Sonny T and Michael B in November 2004 which appear across the three albums. CC and Joshua Dunham also feature eleven songs across the three albums. The rest of the songs were recorded by Prince. Not much is known about these sessions so equipment is based on live photos and videos.

There were no tours for these three albums. Prince did two residencies, in Las Vegas and London, and played many one-off shows. Prince worked with a fairly stable group of musicians including Morris Hayes and Renato Neto or Cassandra O’Neal on keyboards, Josh Dunham on bass and Cora Coleman-Dunham on drums. Details on this page are taken from photographs and videos from this period.

In the studio

Prince played Hohner Madcat, Fender Stratocaster, Schecter Habibe and Ibanez GB12 George Benson guitars on this album. Live, he moved to a stripped down amplifier set up including Mesa/Boogie Lonestar and Heartbreaker amplifiers and an Orange stack. It is unknown whether these were used in the studio. Prince switched to a simplified pedalboard including his Boss pedals, a Dunlop Cry Baby, a Digitech Whammy and a Line 6 Modulation Modeler.

It is likely that Prince used Fender Jazz basses around this time. Sonny T probably used Warwick Dolphin basses.

The keyboards on this album probably included Yamaha Motif keyboards, a Clavia Nord Lead 2 and a Minimoog Voyager.
