Prince’s home recording studio consists of a control room and a small overdub room. It contains an Ampex 1200 24-track recorder, a Soundcraft board and Lexicon 224X outboard. David Leonard is “pretty sure” it’s a Westlake installation. Prince mixes down onto an Ampex ATR-100 (half-inch and quarter-inch) mastering deck. He uses Scotch 250 recording tape.

Onstage with his current courtesans, Prince plays guitars made by Knut Koupee of Minneapolis and a Tele-style limited edition Hohner through a Nady 700 wireless. He uses a Mesa/Boogie Series 300 preamp and a Carver power amp into JBL speakers, with Boss pedal effects and JBL 547 graphic EQs. He also pounds a Yamaha KX88 keyboard controller MIDI'd to a Roland MKS-20 piano module.

PRINCE'S GUITARS AND EQUIPMENT
On this tour Prince uses a selection of five guitars, including two Cloud guitars, one blue with bats inlaid down the fretboard; the backup one is black with Roman numerals down the frets. Both the guitars have an EMG single coil pickup at the neck and an EMG Humbucker at the fixed bridge, active electronics and a tone and volume control. As guitar technician DALLAS SCHOO says; "Prince is more into the sound of the guitar rather than having extra gadgets on the body."
