For You
For You is Prince's debut album. Prince is credited as playing all the instruments on the album and self-produced the record. It is mostly a funk and disco record, with some songs having hard rock, jazz and folk influences.
The liner notes feature a list of the instruments played on every track, including make and model. This was the only time Prince listed instruments this way. This list led to the claim that Prince could play 27 instruments.
The album is notable for its use of synthesizers in the place of horns, paving the way for the Minneapolis sound, with keyboards like the Arp Pro-Soloist, Moog Polymoog and Oberheim 4 voice all feature prominently on many of the songs.
There were a few live dates in support of the album, but no full tour.
