The Ibanez GB12 “George Benson” is an electric guitar played by Prince from the mid 1990s onward.
It is the signature guitar of jazz guitarist George Benson, who recorded at Paisley Park in the 1996 and gave a signed GB12 to Prince as a gift. The guitar appears in the booklet of The Truth album, and possibly appears on the album itself.
It became one of Prince’s preferred guitars, using it both live and in the studio. It is currently part of the collection at Paisley Park and appears in the Prince - Guitar & Bass book. The estate has listed this as being a GB10 model, although the inlays appear closer to the GB12 model.
