Roland R-8
The Roland R-8 is a drum machine used by Prince in the late 1980s and early 1990s. It first appeared on “Sex”, from the Scandalous! max-single. It later appeared on “Love Machine” from Graffiti Bridge, “Cream”, “Gett Off”, “Walk Don’t Walk”, “Push” and “Insatiable” Diamonds & Pearls and “Blue Light” and “The Sacrifice of Victor” from The Symbol Album.
Prince also used one on many of the demos he produced for other artists in this period (“Pain”, “Skip 2 My U My Darling”, “Martika’s Kitchen”/“Work That Fat”, “Spirit”, “Open Book”, “Don’t Say U Love Me”, “Get Blue” and “Tip O’ My Tongue”).
