The Hondo II “Mad Cat” is an unusual guitar from Prince’s collection at Paisley Park. It appears to be a copy of the H.S. Anderson “Mad Cat” similar to Prince’s famous Hohner and includes a stripe along the body. However, it has more typical Telecaster-style pickups and hardware, with a Seymour Duncan Hot Stack Tele pickup in the bridge. It has a tortoiseshell pickguard which doesn't appear to correctly fit the body or hardware. Hondo was a budget brand, and it appears to have a ply body, rather than solid wood as with the other Mad Cats.
According to the Prince - Guitar & Bass book, it was set up to shoot liquid from the neck as part of Purple Rain stage show. However, Roger Sadowsky has also claimed to have made these guitars, so its possible this guitar was set up as a backup (it has the same bridge pickup as the Sadowsky). Hondo eventually released their own copy of the Mad Cat - the Hondo FAME Series 757 Telecaster - although it lacks the center strip, pickups and bridge typical of a Mad Cat.
