What is the “clap” or “knock” drum machine sound that appears on When Doves Cry and Raspberry Beret?

There is a distinctive "clap" or "knock" drum machine sound that appears on many songs from the Purple Rain and Around The World In A Day albums, including “When Doves Cry” and “Raspberry Beret”. It is a sidestick/rimshot sound from a Linn LM-1 detuned and run through a Boss Delay and other Boss effects.
