For You
For You is Prince’s debut album. The album is mostly an R&B and disco album, although a few songs have a folk, jazz and hard rock influence.
The liner notes list the instruments played on every track, including in some instances the make and model. This list gave rise to the claim that Prince could play 27 instruments. Prince used synthesizers in place of a typical R&B horn section, pointing the way towards the “Minneapolis Sound” of the early 1980s.
There were a few live dates in support of the album, but no tour.
