The Roland GR-77B is a synthesizer module used by Prince. When combined with the Roland G-77 it forms a guitar synthesizer system. The synthesizer engine was based on the Roland JX-3P keyboard.
The guitar synthesizer system was first used during the Parade sessions. Brownmark then went on to use this system live, initially controlling the GR-77B with a G-77, although he later had the interface built into an Alembic Spoiler so he “didn’t have to play that weird-looking Roland bass thing.”
