The Roland G-77 is a bass guitar played by Prince. It can be played as a standalone instrument or, with the Roland GR-77B floor unit, it can form part of a guitar synthesizer system. It is similar to the Roland G-707 also used by Prince.
The guitar synthesizer system was used the during the Parade sessions. Brownmark then went on to use this system live, although he later had the interface built into an Alembic Spoiler so he “didn’t have to play that weird-looking Roland bass thing.” Brownmark still owns this bass.
