The Boss BD-2 Blues Driver is an effects pedal used by Prince from the Newpower Soul era onward. By the 2000s, Prince was using clean amplifiers and relying on this pedal and the Boss DS-2 Turbo Distortion for all his overdrive and distortion sounds. He tended to run this pedal with the gain on maximum, pushing the pedal into a fuzz sound.
One of Prince’s BD-2s is currently on display at Paisley Park.
