The Hohner Clavinet is a keyboard that replicated the sound of a harpsichord or clavichord. Originally designed for classical music, it became popular with funk musicians.

It appears on the songs "Soft And Wet", "Just As Long As We’re Together", "I’m Yours", "I Wanna Be Your Lover", "Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad", "Sexy Dancer" and "I Feel For You". It possibly appears on "When You Were Mine" and "Head" from Dirty Mind.

It was also used by Prince and Dr Fink live.
