Hammond B3 Organ

The Hammond B3 is an electric organ used by Prince and his band throughout his career. It is a staple of jazz, R&B, rock and gospel. It is usually accompanied by a Leslie cabinet, also used by Prince and his keyboardists.

Prince first used the Hammond B3 on the Parade tour. It was later used on the Sign O The Times album, appearing on songs including Adore.[1] It also appears on the cover of the record. Boni Boyer and Dr Fink played one on the Sign O The Times tour and Dr Fink plays a solo on the B3 during the song "Now's The Time" from the Sign O The Times movie.

Rosie Gaines later used a Hammond B3 on the Diamonds and Pearls tour.[2] Morris Hayes took the B3 over when he replaced her in the NPG. By the Gold Experience era, the B3 and Leslie cabinet had a clear plexiglass casing. Morris Hayes continued using the B3 with Prince until 2012.
