The Hammond B3 is an electric organ used by Prince and his band throughout his career. It is a staple of jazz, R&B, rock and gospel. It is usually accompanied by a Leslie cabinet, also used by Prince and his keyboardists. It appears in photographs and was mentioned in the December 1992 issue of Musician.
Prince first used the Hammond B3 on the Parade tour. It was later used on the Sign O The Times album, appearing on songs including Adore. It also appears on the cover of the record. Boni Boyer and Dr Fink played one on the Sign O The Times tour and Dr Fink plays a solo on the B3 during the song "Now's The Time" from the Sign O The Times movie.
Rosie Gaines later used a Hammond B3 on the Diamonds and Pearls tour. Morris Hayes took the B3 over when he replaced her in the NPG. By the Gold Experience era, the B3 and Leslie cabinet had a clear plexiglass casing. Morris Hayes continued using the B3 with Prince until 2012.
