The Akai S1000 is a rack-mounted sampler used by Prince in the early-to-mid 1990s. It was part of his rack of synth and sampler modules, controlled by other keyboards like his Roland JV-80.
It was used on “Alice Through the Looking Glass” (Loops), “The Voice” (Orchestra Hits) and “Trouble” (Orchestra Hits, Guitar and Loops) and it is assumed that it was used elsewhere on the Diamonds & Pearls album. It remained a part of Prince’s set up to the Emancipation. era
