The Simmons SDS-V is an electronic drum kit used by Prince.
Bobby Z first used this kit on the 1999 tour. Prince started to use the Linn LM-1 live, with Bobby adding accents and fills using the Simmons SDS-V to trigger the Linn. Bobby would also use the Simmons SDS-V sound module. Prince would also use this set up when playing the drums with the Revolution, as seen in the “America” video.
The kit was refinished in a paisley pattern for the Parade tour. On the Sign O The Times tour, the Simmons pads were combined with Sheila E’s acoustic kit.
The paisley-patterned Simmons SDS-V kit is currently in the collection at Paisley Park.
