Roland JV-80

The Roland JV-80 is a synthesizer used by Prince in the 1990s. It is the next generation Roland keyboard after the D-50 and JD-800. Released in 1992, Prince first used one for the Come/Gold Experience* sessions. It was part of Prince’s studio set up, where it was used as both a keyboard in it’s own right and a MIDI controller for a rack of synth modules (E-mu Vintage Keys, Akai S1000, Akai S3000).
Prince was last seen using the JV-80 in the bonus footage of the Rave Un2 The Year 2000 DVD. He also used one live in the Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic era, where it was used for pads and string sounds.
