Roland GR-700

The Roland GR-700 is a synthesizer module used by Prince and Wendy Melvoin. It was combined with a Roland G-707 guitar and controller to form a guitar synthesizer system. The synthesizer engine inside the GR-700 is the same as the Roland JX-3P keyboard.

The guitar synthesizer system was first used during the Parade sessions. It can be heard on Girls & Boys, Sexual Suicide and Anotherloverholenyohead (the "duck" sound)[1] . Wendy played the G-707 live along with the GR-700 module. There is an eyewitness account of Prince using the system for the Sign O The Times sessions, but it is unknown where on the album it features.
