Akai MPC-60II

Electronic Percussion

The Akai MPC-60II is a sampler and workstation. It was designed by Roger Linn, who also invented the Linn LM-1. It was famously used for hip-hop production.

Prince used one in the 1990s, when he incorporated hip-hop sounds into his music. He was photographed using one in the studio for the Emancipation album.
